Grants

Grants are available to students who are determined to have exceptional financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances. Why you may have to repay a Pell grant.

Types of Grants Available

Federal Pell Grant

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree. (In some cases, however, a student enrolled in a post-baccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Federal Pell Grant.) The Pell Grant does not have a minimum enrollment status; however, the amount of Pell grant you receive will differ based on your enrollment status.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine how much financial need they have. Students must meet the same criteria as Pell grant recipients, plus have an enrollment status of half-time or more to be considered for SEOG. Awarding SEOG depends on the availability of funds.

Arizona Leveraging Education Assistance Partnership (AzLEAP) Grant

Arizona resident students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine how much financial need they have. Students must meet the same criteria as Pell grant recipients, plus have an enrollment status of half-time or more to be considered for AzLEAP. Awarding AzLeap depends on the availability of funds.
