Rio Salado's Technology Helpdesk can help you work through any technological barriers that arise during your online experience. Review the commonly asked questions below to troubleshoot your problem. FAQs: Technology Helpdesk

To test whether you have an internet connection, visit other sites such as yahoo.com or microsoft.com. If you are able to access those or other pages, but not the Rio Salado homepage, call the Helpdesk at 480-517-8600.

Student email addresses are as follows:

  1. Click the email button at the top, right-hand corner of any RioLearn page.
  2. Click the New button at the top of the page.
  3. Enter your recipient's email address in the To: field.
  4. Enter  your message and subject line.
  5. Click Send at the top of the page.

  2. To create a new message, click New at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Attachments.
  4. Click Browse to locate the document.
  5. Click Open and then click Attach.
  6. Enter your recipient's email address in the To: field.
  7. Enter your message and subject line.
  8. Click Send at the top of the page.

Click the course name on your My Site page. On the course section homepage, click your instructor's name listed in the Email Your Instructor box. This automatically populates an email to your instructor.

If you have not received a reply from your instructor in a few days:

  • Ensure that you are checking your email account through RioLearn -- not your personal account.
  • Check to see if you received a message from mailer-daemon, indicating that your message was never sent due to an incorrect email address.
  • Call the Helpdesk at 480-517-8600 and we can connect you with the Instructional Helpdesk to contact the instructor on your behalf.

You can click the link and RealPlayer automatically plays the file or you can right-click on the link and choose Save link as or Save target as (depending on your browser). After it downloads, you can play it directly from your computer.

Only your instructor can grant an extension for the class.

You can request an extension online through RioLearn:

  • Click the course name on your My Site page.
  • On course section homepage, click the Request A Change link in the Assessments Due Dates box.
  • Complete the form and then click Submit. You should receive a response from the instructor as an alert on your My Site page within a few days.

Extensions are granted or denied based on the discretion of the instructor.

If you can't open .pdf (PDF) files, download the free, newest Adobe Acrobat Reader from adobe.com. For help with a download or installation, call the Helpdesk at 480-517-8600.

  1. Click the file link that you want to download.
  2. A window displays, asking you to save the file to disk or open it from location.
  3. Select Save the file to disk and then click OK.
  4. A dialog box displays.
  5. Near the top of the window and right of Save in, locate the drop-down menu.
  6. Click the arrow and select Desktop from the menu.
  7. Click Save.

The access code comes bundled with your textbook when it is purchased from the Rio Salado Bookstore.

Your instructor's name is located on your My Site page next to the course in the My Courses box.

The instructor posts the Course ID in the Announcements of your RioLearn course section homepage.

  • Log in to coursecompass.com
  • Click My Account.
  • Then, click Edit Account Information.
  • To change your email address: Highlight the email entry and enter your RioLearn email address (yourMEID@maricopa.edu).
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
